A risk management plan to help you proactively and preemptively manage regulatory threats.
The ability to develop a culture of compliance in your organisation, endorsed by the Compliance Institute Southern Africa (CISA), to which you’ll receive a one-year membership.*
An ethical, analytical, and strategic perspective on compliance developed through academic theory, practical case studies, and self-reflection.
*Should you complete both UCT compliance online short courses offered by GetSmarter, within a one-year period, you’ll then get a two-year student membership for CISA.

Learn how the King IV Code is used to implement effective corporate governance and ethical leadership within an organisation.
Module 2 Structuring a Compliant Organisation
Explore the benefits and limitations of frameworks for compliance risk management.
Module 3 Creating the Right Culture for Compliance
Explore the importance of creating an effective culture of compliance in an organisation.
Module 4 Compliance Risk as an Element of the Risk Universe
Review the theory of compliance risk and analyse the risk drivers which inform the prioritisation of risk assessment.
Module 5 Compliance Risk Management Planning
Learn to create a risk management plan using risk-rating scales.
Module 6 Control Design
Explore how to develop effective and appropriate controls to proactively manage compliance risk in an organisation.
Module 7 Monitoring and Reporting
Develop ethical and analytical skills for effective monitoring and reporting as part of the compliance risk management process.
Module 8 The Future of Compliance
Predict the effect of evolving disruptive technologies on compliance risk management and ethical codes of conduct.

Tebello Thabane
Senior Lecturer, Commercial Law Department, Faculty of Law, UCT
Thabane is an advocate and senior lecturer in Commercial Law. He lectures, researches and consults on company law, corporate governance and regulatory compliance. He holds a BA (law), LLB, LLM (commercial law), LLM (human rights), PhD (Commercial Law) and certificates in corporate compliance and commercial disputes mediation.

CISA sets, maintains, and promotes best-practice standards for the compliance profession and has developed a Generally Accepted Compliance Practice (GACP) framework to govern business standards. By completing this course, students will gain compliance-management skills aligned with CISA GACP benchmark standards, which are nationally recognised. CISA also administers professional accreditation for compliance professionals. By completing the Compliance Management course, you'll be eligible for 15 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours.
